Rahat Baugh Kabristan- “Serving the community with dignity — yesterday, today, and for generations to come.”
Rahat Bagh Kabristan – A Legacy of Service and Responsibility
Rahat Bagh Kabristan, located in Kausar Baugh, Kondhwa Khurd, is an important religious and community institution that has served generations with dignity and care. Since 1952, the Rahat Bagh Trust has been dedicatedly managing and maintaining the kabristan, ensuring respect for the departed and support for the community during times of loss.

In its early years, the land available for burial was limited. Over time, as the population grew, space constraints became a serious concern. This challenge reached a critical point during the COVID-19 pandemic, when the shortage of land made it extremely difficult to conduct burials with dignity during a period of unprecedented loss.

Recognizing the gravity of the situation, Professor Shafi Pathan, a respected educationist and social leader and father of Sameer Shafi Pathan, took the initiative to resolve the issue. He escalated the matter to the Maharashtra State Government, undertaking multiple visits, formal representations, and submitting official letters to ensure that additional land was reserved exclusively for the kabristan.

As a result of these sustained efforts, the required land was officially reserved for Rahat Bagh Kabristan and later handed over to the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC). With continued coordination between the PMC and the Rahat Bagh Trust, proper care, management, and development of the kabristan have been ensured.
Today, Rahat Bagh Kabristan stands as a symbol of dedicated community service, administrative persistence, and generational commitment — reflecting the values of dignity, responsibility, and respect that continue to guide its upkeep and development.
